Commonwealth Championships - JANUARY 2008
Scotland sent a team to compete in the Commonwealth Championships in Mauritius which included 3 of our full-time group: David Millar (-66kg), Joe Cooney (-73kg)and Connie Ramsay (-63kg).
The tournament was a shining succes for the Scottish team, as from the whole three days of fighting whether it was senior or junior the entire Scottish team came home with a medal....even one of the coaches (Josh Gavin) entered in the masters section and came back with the Gold. This meant the Scottish team finished overall 3rd in the medals table behind Cameroon & India.
From the Edinburgh Club, Connie Ramsay took a silver medal in the Junior Event AND another silver in the Senior Event. Which was a very impressive accomplishment considering this meant she had to make the weight and fight two days in a row....no easy feat, so congratulations to Connie.
David Millar also took a silver medal in the -66kg category, losing to Jean-rene Badrick of England in the final. Joe Cooney also took a bronze in the -73kg category.
Congratulations to these players and the rest of the Scottish Team. Full results can be found on the Judo Scotland website.
