The Edinburgh Club offers Judo to children and Adults of all ages and abilities.
Our Kids classes accept children from the age of 3 where they will learn the very basic skills required whilst having fun and keeping active. This kind of exercise class provides a sound grounding for any kind of sporting activity and will improve co-ordination and balance. The emphasis on these classes is fun and kids are taught about the club ethos...FITNESS...FUN and most importantly RESPECT.
The children's classes go right up to age 18 and there are opportunties and development paths for those wishing to participate in the sport competitively.
Our Adults class caters to complete beginners as well as to those returning to Judo. Both men and women are welcome at our Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions.
The Full-Time athlete programme consists of around 20 individuals ranging from age 17+ who train in the club almost every day. This group consists of Euan Burton (Current World Bronze medalist) and Sarah Clark (European Champion 2006) who both competed in Beijing this summer.
At the latest British Trials this group brought back 9 medals including 4 golds. We are confident that many of these player will make up the Team GB Team at the London Olympics in 1012.
We are very proud of our History as the most successful Judo Club in Scotland, if not the UK. Our Director of Coaching is the Current GB Performance Coach Billy Cusack, 6th Dan, who coaches our Full-time group in the Club along with David Sommerville.
Our younger players are very excited at the prospect of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Expect a strong team with real medal hopes to emerge from our young Squad members.
